Paris Saint-Germain stormed into the FIFA Club World Cup final with a dominant 4-0 win over Real Madrid in the semifinal played at MetLife Stadium on Wednesday.
UEFA Champions League winners PSG made a blistering start, racing to a 3-0 lead within the first 24 minutes. Spanish midfielder Fabian Ruiz struck twice, while Ousmane Dembele added another as Madrid struggled to cope with the intensity of Luis Enrique’s side.
The opening goal came in the sixth minute after Dembele dispossessed Raul Asencio inside the Madrid box. Ruiz was on hand to finish from close range after earlier efforts from both players were denied by Thibaut Courtois.
Dembele added the second three minutes later, stealing the ball from Antonio Rudiger before slotting calmly into the bottom corner. Ruiz then grabbed his second in the 24th minute, finishing off a slick move involving Achraf Hakimi to make it 3-0.
Despite a few missed chances — notably one from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia just before halftime — PSG remained in full control. Substitute Ramos completed the rout late in the second half, converting a well-worked move assisted by Bradley Barcola.
PSG had earlier knocked out Bayern Munich with a 2-0 win in the quarterfinals, courtesy of goals from Desire Doue and Dembele in the 78th and 90+6th minutes, respectively. That match also saw two PSG players — Willian Pacho and Lucas Hernandez — sent off in the closing stages.
The Paris club will now meet Chelsea in Sunday’s final as they aim to cap a remarkable campaign with their first FIFA Club World Cup title.
